These collages belong to a series of chromatically driven work made with hand printed papers and Coloraid, a densely pigmented paper. My subjects are river surfaces. I photograph and print textured sections of my oil paintings onto colored paper sheets to build a supply of collage material. I select a ground and arrange cut geometric strips and elements to evoke the reflected nighttime illumination from the passing barges, tugs and tankers that I observe along the Hudson River.
