JEANETTE FINTZ

Transformative "The geometrical visions that are my paintings are constructed from a vocabulary of fragmented gestures gleaned from the collision and dissection of overlapping grids systems. My working process resembles choreography or architecture since it employs a given methodology to discover an unpremeditated outcome. I make editing decisions on what to join and what to elide intuitively, based on the body sense of what feels right being pulled out from the grid. The paintings are therefore expressive and subjective. Constructs and spaces exist at the edge of stability, which attracts me because of the possibilities that are opened for transformation within the logical diagram.

MONIKA ZARZECZNA

I like to work in the realm of the slightly out of control, that place where coincidence takes over and new possibilities are shown that are understood by intuition, rather than knowledge. Balancing on the edge of abstraction, I make collages, drawings, sculptures and installations of invented forms and objects. My works resemble vessels, empty husks and architectural remains. They have an air of being incomplete or broken. The work betrays an idea of a plan or logic; screws, strings and mark making are visible, but the whole intent is unclear, as though a foreign force (or time) took control of a perfectly normal matter and changed it beyond recognition. Incompleteness and loss are a main theme in my work and many of my pieces are an attempt to preserve a moment , save it from disappearing, or show an (albeit often erroneous) attempt to restore a brokenness, to make something whole again.
