STEPHEN REYNOLDS
JUNE 13 - JULY 12, 2026
Much of my work is sculpture of metal, wood, and other materials. Working in this way is a deliberate process where revisions are often time-consuming and playful improvisation is much more difficult. As a refreshing change, collage allows me to make rapid modifications and to explore other combinations and juxtapositions without labor intensive consequences. After a particularly bleak winter my mind was crying out for color. I turned to a huge stack of Art Forum magazines which have large areas of color ranging in chromatic intensity from pure prismatic hues to muted colors and neutral grays. As I began cutting and pasting I found myself creating imaginary spaces which suggest architecture or other objects from the built environment.
